Established in 1932, Rocky Boots managed to stay in business through hard work and lots of innovation. The company began as William Brooks Shoe Co. in Nelsonville, OH when William and F.M. Brooks took a risk and entered the footwear industry. The brothers manufactured boots for the military and major retailers including Sears and JC Penney, but by the 1970s, the footwear industry took a dip and William Brooks Shoe Co. looked outdated.

It made a quick pivot with the Rocky Brand, which pushed the company into the outdoor and tactical industry. It didn’t look back. Rocky was one of the first to use rugged Cordura fabrics and GORE-TEX moisture-wicking technology.
