SureFire
SureFire produces reliable, rugged laser sights, flashlights and other lighting tools perfect for everyday carry as well as tactical and military operations, outdoor sports and more. This innovative brand came into being thanks to one man’s love of shooting sports. Dr. John Matthews opened Newport Corporation in 1969 to bring laser technology into the industrial sector. As he watched lasers succeed in many applications, Matthews wondered how it could benefit his shooting hobby.
In 1979, he patented his first laser sight and established a company to pursue the tactical applications of laser technology. Out of this first cumbersome, expensive sight, the company developed many resilient, compact lighting tools for tactical use. SureFire started as one man’s vision. Today, these illuminating tools are found packed in combat kits, mounted to police weapons, clipped to the belts of industrial workers and dangling on keychains of people all over the world.
